After learning a good new yesterday and fully recovering from a recent dreadful allergy, my life become more colorful and energetic.

I will leave Advancing Engineering by the end of the month, and to become jobless, maybe :P By the way, a mostly-for-lady start-up is on the edge of launch. Please wait and see! :)

Getting better - family visiting the city

I am sitting in a café near my office, trying to finish Cost Estimate for my boss, as I promised him again to finish by this afternoon :)

Anyways, I'm getting very much better as waking up this morning, but still have to take the pills to eliminate the bloating face.

My parents, my aunt/uncle are coming to Phnom Penh. They are very happy, I guess. I'm killing off their suspicion on me so far.

My face distorted

"I rarely get sick" - I told my colleague this morning. What ashame! Right in this afternoon my whole body suddenly became terribly itchy, then my face bloated in just a few minute later.

I refused to go to see a doctor suggested by my colleagues and relatives, as this will be better by tomorrow I'm sure. Now, after vomiting and help of medicines, I feel a lot better :-/

A moment for Google Webfonts

Mr. Danh Hong and I.

Mr. Danh Hong is a well-known typographer for several Khmer Unicode fonts, obviously the popular Khmer OS family. We first met each other in around 2002/2003, when I needed his help on Khmer Unicode for my website. And today, we discussed around Google Webfonts API in which he's one of the designers there with his Hanuman font.

The new technology fascinates me a lot, since it works on almost today's modern browsers. Mr. Hong also plans to put more Khmer fonts, including Khmer OS, on Google. That's really good news :)

Cultural center to be moved to Rattanakiri from Siem Reap?

No, it's not :P These are just about projects of Unesco for cultural centers in Cambodia's northern provinces: Mondul Kiri, Rattanak Kiri, Preah Vihear, and Kampong Thom.

I have very less days without any lesion in my mouth. Can you see it in the photo above? It regularly happens as a torture over me. Sometimes, I just really want to cut my tongue off.

My boss and colleagues left and will leave for the US for Christmas. The office becomes "S'ngat doch chor luoch ses (extremely quiet)". However, he (my boss) left me a homework, and the deadline is Monday :(

As working full time at Advancing Engineering, I'd not been able to keep close eyes on iBuild. Fortunately, my builders did a very good job. From next month on, I would have spare time for the small business :)

I'm sorry, the content may derail its title! I'm here just to let you, my truly reader(s), the information that my work with Advancing Engineering will end soon, while my personal iBuild runs not so well (full of challenges) with Acleda Bank. However, I just got paid off by the bank (love you, hehe..) without any 5% left for guarantee period for two projects.

By the way, a proposal for another project on the way. Wish me luck! :)

Learning American Engineering: steel bar designations

Today, my boss assigned a new job, also a new thing I'm to learn about American Standards in Engineering.

In the US codes, steel bars are represented as #3, #4,...#18 (unlike Cambodia or some other Asian countries like Vietnam). And to know the diameter (inch) of a bar type, just divide its represented number by 8. For example #3 => D = 3/8. And the size (square inch) of each bar is the result of square of "represented number/9". For example #4 => S = (4/9)^2. Pretty simple, isn't it? :)

A thumb up or down to central market renovation?

It's been more than a year since my last visit to the Central Market (unbelievable :P). The place is one of the iconic symbols of Phnom Penh, and was built by a reknown Khmer architect, Vann Molyvan, in 1937.

The market is famous for its unique architectural design with a huge ventilation system. But this morning, as walking into the market, I felt something completely different, narrow, less air/lighting system,... Hmm... did they consult with Mr. Vann Molyvan first before launching the renovation? Has the aging architect acknowledged that? Well, i'm just a small conservationist.

My new toy: just to show off

Canon 1000D, my first DSLR ever. The lens (18-55mm) has been changed to 18-200mm.

Well, it's been with me since 27th Nov, 2010, but I just find today is appropriate to show off :)
I feel my life is more colorful, and afford to kill some of my boring times with the new toy. And tomorrow I will leave for Bati resort in Takeo, to bring some beautiful images back :-P
